The goal of this blog section has always been to share helpful tips about using our cooling case and accessories that are useful.
I have previously discussed various kneeboard/legstrap solutions on our blog. From ones that we consider versatile (MyClip, DreamPilot, QuadLock, AppStrap) to a remixed RAM elevated kneeboard and an elevated tilt kneeboard by OHLPRO.
Why not make a Wombat Ware kneeboard/legstrap?
The thought of designing our own kneeboard has crossed my mind. In fact, in an earlier concept/prototype version of the iPad Mini 6/7 Cooling Case, I designed 'loops' integrated into the cooling case so that a strap can loop through and be used to secure the iPad and cooling case to the user's leg. The idea was similar to MyGoFlight's iPad kneeboard. However, to keep things simple, we decided to remove that feature and stick with the current design.

Fast forward to this year, we decided to revisit designing a kneeboard solution. Having previously tried out the RAM universal hand-stand slash hand-strap for 7-8" tablets, I wonder if I could design something similar - an attachable/removable kneeboard solution. But instead of relying on tethers that wrap around the case at the four corners, I could use the existing AMPs 4-hole pattern.

So I designed a simple attachable strap holder that can be secured to the cooling case via the AMPs 4-holes. Then add an elastic strap with hook and loop at the ends and we have a kneeboard strap.

Inspired by the RAM universal hand-stand/strap, you could rotate the strap holder so that the iPad could be viewed in 'Landscape' or 'Portrait' easily.
Here's what it looks like strapped to a leg 'Portrait':

and 'Landscape':

Also, if we feed-in or shorten the strap, we can turn the legstrap into a hand-strap which supports holding the iPad on your hand. This is basically copying the concept of the RAM universal hand-stand except this doesn't have a stand.

We are currently trialing this and might release this in the near future. If you are interested, please leave a comment below, send us a message on our contact page, or subscribe to our newsletter.
Lastly, I will leave you with this video that shows how the attachable kneeboard / legstrap works:
