The Wombat Ware Cooling Case Is Now Available!

The Wombat Ware Cooling Case Is Now Available!

If you have somehow managed to find this page, my guess is you are looking for an iPad cooling solution. Either that or you are really into Wombats and you like to use your iPad Mini to take Wombat pictures. Jokes aside, this is meant to be an announcement that the Wombat Ware Cooling Case (for the iPad Mini 5) is available for purchase.

So what is the Wombat Ware Cooling Case?

It is an iPad case with a cooling system packed inside the case. Or when the case is fitted on your iPad, the cooling system is between the back of the iPad and the case.

This cooling system consists of 2 mini and mighty blower fans that turns on when the system detects that its surrounding temperature is higher than 30 degrees celsius.

In other words, when the iPad is seated in the case, the cooling system will try to cool the back of the iPad and keep it from overheating and shutting down.

What is unique about it?

There are a few unique features about the Wombat Ware Cooling Case:

Firstly, the cooling system has built-in power so it does not require an external power source to power the fans. The rechargeable battery can power the fans for up to 5 hours when it is fully charged.

Secondly, the cooling case will fit your iPad snugly; and because it is thin and lightweight and offers some amount of protection (especially at the corners),  you could use the case as an everyday case.

Thirdly, the case is designed with the 4-hole AMPs pattern at the back, so it is compatible with any mounting system that also adopts that 4-hole pattern. (For e.g. RAM mounts or Arkon mounts).

[For pilots who use their iPads as kneeboards, we have also tested the MyClip and AppStrap 5(S) and they work really well.]

Why the name Wombat?

Well, we had to pick the name Wombat because not only are they cute and cuddly looking Australian marsupials, they are also adaptable and habitat tolerant. Which means they are strong and can survive really hot days. The fact that Wombats have a strong rump is also the reason for our tagline "We got your back". We also like to think we are just as unique as the Wombat.

How would the Pre-Order work?

[Edit/update as of 2021 Aug : The pre-order is now over and you can simply purchase the iPad Cooling Case on our products page

As a team that is just starting out, we have decided to manufacture in small batches. That helps us not just with cashflow, but also with having more control over the quality of the parts. For the first batch, it will be a quantity of 100 units, and we are focusing on the case for iPad Mini 5 (or the 5th Gen iPad Mini).

We have started taking Pre-Orders as of 14th June 2021 2300 (AEST) and that will close on the 15th July 2021 2300 (AEST). If all 100 units are pre-ordered before the closing date/time, we will start production early, else we will start production straight after 15th July 2021.

Manufacturing of the components should take between 2-4 weeks and we will ship them out once they are completed. Shipping will take another 5-25 days depending on shipping location.

So in the scenario that production starts on 16th July 2021 (AEST), the units will be ready for shipping on 6th Aug 2021 (AEST). Someone who ordered in Australia should be able to receive their unit within 5-10 days.

There will email notifications throughout the pre-order process until the units are shipped.
